I’m sorry I haven’t written anything regarding my Phoenix or Houston tours. My Uncle died last week while I was in Phoenix AZ and I wasn’t really feeling up to communicating about it. He was very close to me and was more of a father than a distant relative. My Aunt called me while I was on a hike to Look Out Mountain, sobbing the loss of her beloved.
He was always very encouraging and allowed me a bit more freedom to say no to Basketball than I would expect. He was a Sports-Star in high school and college. I could tell growing up that he wanted me to have the same college scholarship that he benefited from. I just wasn’t interested in the game then. To be honest I wasn’t that good at it. I would rather watch how he artfully redesigned a bathroom or kitchen; the perfect husband.
For me my tears and crowing I conducted in private and wanted to be with friends post Turkey-day. I had a great opportunity to get out of my head and get back in the game on the Rod Ryan show in Houston. I love the radio format and the folks in it. I prefer radio news to its TV big brother. Their work is more substance than superficial because they don’t have the visual element to deal with.
Dealing with my anxiety I didn’t sleep much before the morning of the interview, preparing for the pre-stage fright apprehension. I got in early much to the Rod’s surprise. I wonder why the bimbo’s don’t show up on time? In any event the interview went very well, being my first who knows there may be another career for me.
